Cory Abbott is a top ranked Cubs prospect.
After pitching at Loyola Marymount, he was drafted in the second round of the 2017 draft. Since then, he's risen through the minor leagues, pitching a successful 2018 in A ball, then another good season for AA in 2019. 2020 was the lost year, but he did begin '21 in AAA. Out of necessity, he was called up the Cubs for a four game stint just recently. he didn't blow away the competition this round, but he seems to be building the foundation for a potential join to the rotation in 2022.

Dear Cory,
Congrats on your debut and making it to the show! Just because a player is drafted high does not make that a given. You accelerated through the minors, and made it after only 2 and a quarter seasons at the minor league level, which is very impressive for a pitcher. The results may not have been there for the debut, but you showed enough to where I think you tinker around at AAA a little bit and you'll be back soon enough. No doubt about it, this is not your only time in the MLB.
A lot of prospect gurus are really high on your big league potential. So far, you've proven them right. Keep at it, bounce back, and show us what you can do! We will be rooting you along the whole way.
